Our mission continues to be one fo social entrepreneurship. Where a portion of every venture we take gives back to the community in the form of donations and exposure. Anytime you as a supporter of Long Island Strong purchase any of our products or collaborative efforts with other businesses are in turn giving back to your community. So we thank you for believing and supporting our mission to strengthen our communities and local businesses.
Long Island Strong firmly believes in assisting and spreading awareness for Long Island Charities. For every piece of Long Island Strong merchandise sold a portion goes to one of the incredible organizations below.
Since their founding in 1990, Operation SPLASH has grown from 1 caring person to several thousand concerned members, in 7 chapters dotted all along Long Island’s South Shore. The 6 SPLASH boats run from March through November and are operated by volunteer captains and crewmembers.
SPLASH boats patrol our local waterways. Over the past three decades, volunteers have rescued more than 2,000,000 pounds of trash, marine debris and navigational hazards from our bays, beaches and waterways. Most of what they pull from the water comes from the land around us — through storm drains and from storms blowing debris into the water. SPLASH has also designed and maintains the award-winning Mill Basin Debris Trap.
Aside from collecting trash, they have also made tremendous headway in stemming the awful tide of sewage being dumped in our bays, and the toxic pollution entering our waters through storm water runoff. SPLASH crews actively monitor and identify pollutants as well as their sources. To reduce the flow of toxins and trash into our bays, SPLASH has collaborated on the funding and installation of more than 4,000 street storm drain inserts in Nassau County. The reduction in pollution is quite remarkable.
Their award-winning SPLASH education program is teaching thousands of students each year about the importance of our South Shore Bays and the challenges that they face. Students of all ages, from elementary school through college, enjoy the classroom program, the bay tour by boat, the trip down the Nautical Mile, and seeing the saltwater tanks brimming with local marine life.
With the leadership of talented and environmentally-passionate marine tradespeople, educators and business owners, SPLASH has remained focused on its mission and produced extraordinary results.
A portion of Long Island Strong's LOCAL branded merchandise is directly donated to Operation Splash.
When Covid 19 hit Long Island and businesses were forced to close we at Long Island Strong felt it was our duty to step up. Our Social Entrepreneurship model was built for unfortunate occasions like this. From the day we launched this site we have given a portion of proceeds to Long Island Charities and when our brothers and sisters were in need of assistance we made a plan. We began to sell select items at a discount and give $10 per item sold to struggling families in the form of gift cards to local businesses. Simultaneously stimulating the economy while providing relief to Long Islanders. We never thought we would raise almost $12,000 and give to 12 different families.
Understandably the request we received most often was for food supply so we teamed up with some amazing locals.
We teamed up with Alethea Shapiro, who was operating her own relief, and Center Cuts Butcher Shop in Roslyn. We donated $800 and they added $200 of their own to prepare packages of 2 whole chickens, 2lbs of cutlets, and 4 burgers given to 17 families!!
One of our biggest supporters was Dan from Eat Better Meals. He made providing relief to families easier than we could have ever imagined. We would purchase gift cards from his website, forward the email to the family and he would give them a discount code for 25% off every order! The families look through the online menus and Eat Better Meals delivers them directly to their door.
And we want to give a huge shout out to Chubs Meats in Medford. We had a few cards to buy for families in the surrounding areas and they were kind enough to throw in an ADDITIONAL $300 Gift card for us to give away!
It is thanks to all of you who purchased items and even donated money directly to the cause. We are only the vehicle, you all are the drivers. You as Long Islanders should be very proud of your individual and collaborative efforts. We certainly are.
Here are some photos and testimonials from the last few months. Some people have opted out of writing testimonials while others made our year with their poignant messages. We (at the request of the families or the loved ones who submitted for them) have kept the testimonials completely anonymous.
Island Harvest has become Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization. Since inception, they have delivered 71 million pounds of food, supplementing close to 66 million meals.

Boots on the Ground NY is a team of Veterans that care about Americas Veterans. We’re grunts, we collect and deliver food and furniture for Veterans and their families, and these are usually the Veterans that everyone else overlooked or has forgotten. No Veteran should be hungry or sleeping on the floor. They ship care packages monthly to the military units that don’t have access to supplies. They provide what they can to those that need it most. They open up their doors and hearts to any Veteran that needs it. Veterans are not just a last name and case number to them, they build and maintain friendships. They're there for the families of the deployed. They’re here for the families of those taken in the Service of their Country. These are commitments they do not take lightly.
Boots on the Ground NY – Leaving No Veteran Behind!!
Our focus is accomplishing a better awareness of the daily struggles that a Veteran faces every day. Unconnected, PTSD, Homelessness, Service-connected-disabled, TBI, Agent Orange, POW-MIA, Service related sickness, Burn pits, Unemployment upon return from deployment; these are just some of the issues.
A priority of BOTG-NY is not letting Our Veterans that reside & live in Hospitals be forgotten. They schedule trips to Northport VA Hospital regularly. During these visits we deliver supplies as well as friendship while bringing a lunch or dinner, this gives them the chance to sit with the Veterans and get to know them.
They have assisted with housing, general funds, furniture, furnishings, clothing, toys and food. BOTG maintains a food and furniture pantry for Veterans who were recently homeless and now living in government approved housing.

Room 4 Love is a Non-Profit Organization committed to doing bedroom makeovers for children with Cancer. We know that there is nothing more important than a child and their well-being; how it's impossible to run your life as you knew it before a diagnosis; and how unbelievably emotional it is for the parents, the child, and the siblings. We want that when a sick child comes home, they have a place that makes them smile, a place that represents them, a place to call their own.
We try our best to not only donate proceeds from merchandise sales, but to donate our time as well.
http://www.room4love.org/Save The Great South Bay Inc. is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit dedicated to the revitalization of The Great South Bay. They are South Shore LI residents, past and present, baymen, fishermen, surfers, sailors, and marine biologists from a dozen organizations now studying the bay.
They advocate a systematic, scientifically driven approach to the bay’s management. Science, not politics. A healthy bay means a healthy economy for The South Shore and it means preserving a public good for future generations. Work today so that future generations will fish, clam, swim and boat on these waters as we had.
Find them Facebook two places: On their Group Page, if you care to join a group approaching 2000 in number who are dedicated to addressing the bay’s problems, or on our Facebook Page, where the more general public can learn of the bay’s issues and offer their comments.
Together, we can remake Long Island for the 21st Century and bring back our bay.
